Clarke Original D Tinwhistle - Nickel Plated with cloth - a traditional Irish Celtic Penny Whistle

The favourite musical instrument of distinguished tinwhistle players ever since 1843, this Clarke Tinwhistle can be considered the Stradivarius of tinwhistles. The instrument is still made of tin-plate with a wooden plug in the mouthpiece. Delicate operations continue to be done by hand and, most importantly, Robert Clarke’s traditional conical bore has been retained to give the instrument its unique ‘chiff’, sound. No other tinwhistle has the same degree of ‘chiff’ as a Clarke. Our nickel-plated tinwhistle is durable and resistant to wear. Our tinwhistles often undergo significant handling and contact with various materials – such as clothing, stands and cases – so a durable plating material is essential to maintain the appearance and functionality of the instrument over time. The box contains one nickel-plated Original tinwhistle (in D or C) and a quality microfibre cleaning cloth, along with a fingering/tuning chart. A beautifully presented tinwhistle in a desirable finish. Nickel is known for its corrosion resistance, which helps protect the underlying metal of the instrument from rust and other forms of corrosion. This is especially important for instruments that are frequently exposed to moisture.
